Password Generator
Create strong, random passwords in one click. Choose the length and character types, check the strength meter, and copy. Everything happens privately in your browser.
النسخة العربية ↗How to create a strong password
- Set the length with the slider. 16 characters is a solid default; go longer for important accounts.
- Choose which characters to include: capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Tick Avoid look-alikes if you will need to type it by hand.
- Copy the password, or pick one of the five extra options underneath.
What makes a password strong?
Length matters most. Every extra character multiplies the number of possible passwords, while adding a symbol to a short password helps far less than people expect. Strength is measured in bits of entropy: the number of guesses an attacker would need, written as a power of two.
| Strength | Entropy | Example settings |
|---|---|---|
| Weak | Under 40 bits | 6 lowercase letters |
| Fair | 40–59 bits | 8 mixed characters |
| Strong | 60–79 bits | 12 mixed characters |
| Very strong | 80+ bits | 16+ mixed characters |
Is this generator safe?
Passwords are created on your device with the browser’s cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues). They are never sent over the internet, never logged and never stored by us. Each password always contains at least one character from every type you selected.
Good password habits
- Use a different password for every account, so one leak does not unlock the rest.
- Save passwords in a reputable password manager instead of a note on your phone.
- Turn on two-factor authentication for email, banking and social media.
Frequently asked questions
How long should my password be?
At least 12 characters, and 16 or more for email, banking and work accounts.
Are the generated passwords stored anywhere?
No. They are created in your browser and disappear when you leave the page.
Why avoid look-alike characters?
Characters such as I, l, 1, O and 0 are easy to confuse when typing a password by hand or reading it aloud.
Is a long passphrase better than a random password?
Both can be strong. A random 16-character password and a passphrase of five or more random words both offer excellent security.
How is the strength calculated?
Strength is length multiplied by the log base 2 of the number of possible characters, shown as bits of entropy.
